Recently, Prof. Daniel Freeman and his colleagues from the University of Oxford test the direct or indirect benefit of Sleepio on patients suffering from a combination of mental disorders and insomnia. The research team selected nearly 2,000 students with sleep-related problems based on their response to the questionnaire that assessed their sleep patterns, as well as tendencies of experiencing paranoia and hallucinations.

While the selected participants were instructed to use Sleepio, approximately 1,870 students in the control group were advised to use the traditional tools for insomnia. The questionnaires were again given to them after three, 10 and 22 weeks from the start of the experiment to analyze different aspects of mental health and sleep patterns.

The study found that those using the Sleepio program slept 50 percent better than those in the control group. Moreover, their depression and anxiety levels were 20 percent lower. The level of hallucinations reduced by 30 percent and paranoia by 25 percent. A deeper statistical analysis suggests the improvements in the other facets of mental health due to improved sleep, holding it accountable for 60 percent of the additional improvements in the mental health symptoms.
